The Influenza PCR Test is used to detect Influenza (flu). Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness that can limit your breathing, causes cough, fevers or chills. About the Influenza PCR Test

Molecular assays available for detecting influenza virus infection include rapid molecular assays, Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), and other nucleic acid amplification tests. These tests can detect influenza viral RNA or nucleic acids in respiratory specimens with high sensitivity and high specificity. Notably, the detection of influenza viral RNA or nucleic acids by molecular assays does not necessarily indicate detection of viable virus or on-going influenza viral replication.

The OPTI SARS-Co V-2/Influenza A/B RT-PCR Test is a multiplex real-time reverse trans cription polymerase chain reaction test intended for the simultaneous qualitative detection and differentiation of
SARS-Co V-2, Influenza A , and /o r Influenza B virus RNA in nasopharyngeal swab specimens collected from individuals suspected of respiratory viral infection consistent with COVID-19 by their healthcare provider. Clinical s igns and symptoms of respiratory viral infection due to SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza can be similar.
